Backlog from the Motherland

Sorry for the abysmal solo blog entry for the month of June :( It got quite busy due to my trip to the Philippines. So here are some wedding updates from my trip!

Wedding Invitations
I've found/chosen a company who will print our wedding invitations. The company is based in the Philippines and they're called Printed Matter. I took some photos of their sample invitations; some of their invites are quite cute! I'll edit this post later and add the photos. D and I are currently trying to decide whether or not we'll have the invitations custom made. Once we've decided, my mom can help us put a deposit in, then work can begin!

Wedding Rings
I met with a friend of my mom who runs a jewelry store in the Philippines. She can help us get our wedding rings made. Right now, I just need to decide on a design then email it to her. Picking a design is proving to be trickier than I thought :\ I kind of want to get a shared setting band to help minimize the width of the ring. However, a channel set band is more recommended. Anyone have any suggestions? As for D, all he wants is a simple ring. So he's set with his design.

Wedding Dress
I met with a couple of wedding dress designers during my trip. I have some of the sketches at home. Later, I will post a photo of the vetoed design. The dress should be on its way to being made as soon as my mom pays the deposit. The plan is for my mom to bring the semi-made dress here in December for a fitting. Final dress should be done by end of April.

Picking a designer wasn't a super easy task. My mom was subtly pushing for me to pick a particular designer. However, I wasn't comfortable with him. In the end, I decided to go for the other designer instead :) I am also glad to report that my dress cost below budget. Yay!

Catering
I have some updates on catering, which I might as well post here. We have decided on a caterer. I won't publish who exactly, at least not yet. Some people probably know who it is. I'll post who it is after we've put down the deposit. We need to figure out the details of the rentals so we can actually determine the deposit amount. I'm glad that we can focus our efforts on working with one caterer instead of not knowing who to go with. Our caterer will also be doing an event at the UBC Boathouse in August. He has invited us to check out the venue with him and to give us an idea of how we can set up our event.

Other Stuff...
  • There are tentative plans to have additional engagement photos take in Taiwan during our Japan/Taiwan trip in September. It was recommended that D and I do not gain weight until then :|
  • I'll be contacting my lovely MOH and bridesmaids this month so we can finally schedule dress shopping!
  • BBT bar? We spoke with our fave bubble tea place. It doesn't seem feasible to have them make bubble tea at the UBC Boathouse. To work around this, we're thinking we'll just get some drinks pre-made and have them available at the reception. We'll fine tune the details later.
  • I'll also be looking for a wedding planner/coordinator soon. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated :)
