The Boathouse IS Pretty

I am at home, sick :( Darn heatstroke. While I'm on the road to recovery, I thought I should do a posting.

Meeting with Karl
On Sunday, as I fought my fever and constant dizziness, D and I went to the UBC Boathouse to check out Karl of Two Chefs and a Table set up for a wedding. The meeting didn't go on for too long; he basically just showed us around. At the time, he mentioned set up was pretty easy. They hit a couple of snags earlier in the day, but things were positive for the most part. So, yay!

Upon entering the Boathouse, one of the first things I noticed was the head table. I knew where the head table is typically placed when having weddings at the UBC Boathouse. The funny thing is, maybe it was the heatstroke, it was only on Sunday that I actually said, "Wow." Hence, the title :P Seeing the view helped me ignore whatever heatstroke symptoms I was experiencing.

Here are some more photos from Sunday:

It was great to be in the middle of a wedding set up at the UBC Boathouse. I think it helped me picture our wedding better. It made me feel excited that I'm getting married, instead of just worried about all the work. I would imagine any bride cherishes those moments :)

Wedding Dress Design
Before I had mentioned that I'll post photos of rejected wedding dress designs. Here they are for your perusal...

this is the other design suggested by the designer that I'm going with

this is from the designer that I wasn't comfortable with

I guess not much to say about these designs. In retrospect, I recall Filipino designers liking very ornate designs - heavy beading and long long trains. I had to tell them to scale it back since it won't be practical for my venue. I think if I didn't ask them to do that, my veil may be as long as the Minoru Chapel's short aisle.

Other News
  • Speaking of dresses, it looks like I may be dress shopping with my bridesmaids this weekend :) Hooray!
  • I got a reply from R Squared Decor! They also do day-of wedding planning. Time to analyze if their prices are reasonable.
  • I can get a 10% discount if my mom pays the deposit for our invitations during a wedding exhibition which Printed Matter will be participating in. Yay discounts!
  • My brother informed me that the structure currently being built next to the Richmond Oval will initially be used as a presentation center... but it will be turned into a restaurant someday! So for any future brides, keep that place in mind ;)
Alrighty, that is all. Time to rest up and recuperate :)

  1. Okay Mrs. Vernice, I have now read your post thoroughly--not just skimmed the text NOR just clicked the pictures.

I am ready for my next pop quiz!

I like your new profile pic ;)

I haven't been in the Minoru Chapel before!

The pics of the Boathouse are indeed beautiful.

Okay, I think it's kind of obvious now that I'm pulling random comments for the sake of commenting, haha. Everything important has already been discussed on Saturday I think ;)

I do like both rejected dresses though! Wedding dress drawings are pretty, naturally, I suppose.
